Under Angel Wings

Even on earth we share in the blessed company of Heaven. The Catholic Church teaches that human life is surrounded by the watchful care of the Angels and their holy intercession for us. From conception, every believer is gifted with a Guardian Angel to accompany him through the dangers and vicissitudes of this life, protecting him and pointing out the one true road that leads to Paradise.

Our Angel has already triumphed in the spiritual combat, having given God his humble and loving submission of heart. In return, the friend at our side enjoys the vision of God’s face, eternally enthralled by the One for Whom we were created. When we pray, our Angel prays with us. We can also pray to our Angel, asking him to assist us in the service of God, that we too may arrive at our beatific end.

As we struggle along on our earthly pilgrimage, the presence of our Guardian Angel is a refuge from confusion, anxiety and distrust – an ever-present haven of wisdom, solace and peace for our souls. May we avail ourselves of this providential refuge in our moments of fear and temptation, praising God for the consolation of living this life under angel wings.

Prayer to your guardian angel

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
