“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.”

~Philippians 4:4

Gerberas must be among the happiest of God’s floral creations. They SMILE!

Through my long years of illness, every time gerberas have entered my bedroom, their smile is contagious: they light a smile on me as well!

I believe that it’s so important to be attentive to the little ways God uses to speak to us; to notice and appreciate His presence, goodness and love in the details of our lives.

The Lord has often spoken to me through beauty, especially the beauties of the natural world – His creation, His masterpiece. He has often awed me with the intricacy of a tiny wildflower: If there can be so much in something so small, how much more must there be to discover in the human heart? He has often dazzled me with the palette He uses to paint the sky: If even on earth a sweeping sunset can be so majestic, what must Heaven’s glories be like?

Cultivating a posture of childlike wonder can lift us to God and lead us to hope. Even in our darkest moments, there are often little rays of light to behold, like the gerberas smiling in my bedroom.

If we have eyes to see those rays, we will find a reason to give Him praise and rejoice.
